This concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is ideal for students who want to pursue careers as behavior analysts in educational and clinical settings. Coursework includes Child Development (PSY201), Educational Psychology (PSY260), Fundamentals of Applied Behavior Analysis (PSY321) and Advanced Concepts in Applied Behavior Analysis (PSY412). Coursework in child development and educational psychology provides critical background knowledge for real world applications of ABA, as many behavior analysts work with children in educational settings. PSY321 provides an introduction to the science of ABA and focuses on the application of learning theory principles to drive behavior change. PSY412 is an advanced course in ABA, focusing on roles and responsibilities of a behavior analyst including functional behavior assessment, behavior data collection and analysis, as well as analysis of ethical issues in complex clinical cases. Together, these courses provide a solid foundation for students to pursue graduate study and/or careers in ABA.
