Master of Arts in English - Education (Online)

Grand Canyon University’s Master of Arts in English with an Emphasis in Education degree program prepares students to teach undergraduate courses at two-year or four-year higher learning institutions for both campus and online modalities. Offered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, this program is an excellent opportunity for those who have a passion for writing and literature and aspire to share their passion with learners through teaching. Students will gain advanced training in the field of English to make a difference in the undergraduate classroom. Core competencies of this program include pedagogy at the university level, teaching writing and literature, practice of professional writing and theories of writing and rhetoric. With a liberal arts foundation, this program surveys research-based pedagogical practices, such as strategic and collaborative curriculum design, diverse adult learning theories and incorporating technology into a distance learning environment. The program moves on to develop students into educational leaders who are skilled to implement these practices for impacting students outcomes.
